SOCIAL WELFARE SERVICES UNIT

Our department help patients understand their illness or condition and provide them with information about the resources available to them to cope with the emotional, financial and social needs that arise with a diagnosis.

We also assess clients' needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals. Help clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives, such as illness, divorce, or unemployment.

The Social Welfare Services comprises of two sections :

Services

For further treatment in Mauritius, the RRA provides financial assistance and all necessary support to patients who have been recommended for further treatment by specialists and approved by the Health Director.

The treatment scheme also provides the possibility for patients to opt for any public hospital in Mauritius. Patients proceeding to Mauritius benefits financial assistance as per the RRA policy (RS 300 per day), and they are also provided air tickets as well as their relatives. In some severe cases, as upon recommendation of treating Specialists, oxygen and stretcher are also provided as well as accompanying staffs such as SAMU Team (Doctors and Nursing Officers) to and from Mauritius.
